A selection of episodes from the superb Reply All series from Gimlet. It's a podcast where they try to solve viewer's very weird internet/tech issues that nobody else has managed to solve. Really odd phone calls, vanishing songs, pictures appearing of people inside your flat, and on and on. These episodes make me chuckle, every time, but also informative!

Messy fun (subjective) that is also quite relaxing.

This documentary does an extraordinary job at depicting the events that unfolded in south Los Angeles in 1992 through the use of compelling 'raw' footage from the event itself. It connects past events that led to the L.A riots in 1992, and its use of symbolic historical footage creates a powerful and striking analysis that is hard to forget. Extraordinary and compelling.

I watched this again. With more board configurations than there are atoms in the universe, the ancient Chinese game of Go has long been considered a grand challenge for artificial intelligence. On March 9, 2016, hundreds of millions of people around the world watched as a legendary Go master took on an unproven AI challenger for the first time in history.

This film documents what feels like a real turning point for the interactions between humans and machines. You might cry, which is weird for a documentary about a computer playing a board game.

Book: The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

Not particularly new, but a terrifying and relevant book that I just got round to in May. A brutal account of later days of slavery in the deep South of the USA, with a more literal ‘underground railroad’ that moves the plot along. Simple in its writing and its violence and its message and its impact.

A historical documentary which successfully portrays one of the most horrifying periods in human history, the dial-up connected 90s. Okay, I'm not reinventing the wheel here (just re-watching it) but it is one of the best TV shows for working from home. I WAS ON A BREAK!

"Sport": Sprint Ring Frisbee

I recently purchased am Aerobie 10" Sprint Ring Frisbee for my partner. It's called a PRO FLYING RING - but it's a Frisbee. You throw it to someone, then they catch it and throw it back to you. It's a Frisbee.

It holds the Guinness World Record of the 'farthest throw' in the world - 1333ft which is “the distance of the Grand Canyon from one end to the other” apparently. It also boasts 'superior accuracy' but i think that is very subjective. It is surprisingly great fun. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.*
