I listen to these because I am a nerd, and was looking for some suitable "ambiance" for reading through the books. Again. I think the score from the Lord of the Rings films is, without doubt, one of the most iconic and recognisable of all time! It’s also great for focussing on work, and getting into a productive mood. What’s more productive than taking the hobbits to Isengard?

A random Spotify playlist threw this at me and I was hit by a wave nostalgia. A big tune from 2002.

I’m a huge fan of the artists formerly known as The Dixie Chicks – I’ve waited 14 damn years for a new album. The best track is the title track – it’s an empowering anthem – which is just what we need in 2020.

So I'm a huuuuuuge Killers fan, so I've been waiting for this album a loooooong time. It's a great album with a total mix of songs with some real upbeat bops. What I needed.
The Last Resort – Trentemøller

Trentemøller is a pretty well-known DJ and producer – this was his debut from 2006. It’s chilled, bleepy, minimal and techy. Right up my street.
A Hero’s Death – Fontaines D.C.
Jessica, Post Punk
I’ve been obsessed with Fontaines D.C. since their debut album Dogrel was voted as album of the year by Rough Trade. They have a very unique, post-punk way of producing absolute belters - similar to Ian Curtis.
A Little Bit Alexis – Annie Murphy
A Little Bit Lorna
I discovered this gem through an episode of (the incredible, amazing, hilarious, everyone-should-watch) Schitt's Creek. Alexis auditions for a show by using her own theme tune. I am OVERJOYED that this is a real song. This parody is definitely influenced by the pop greats Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. The synthesised pop combined with the overly-confident lyrics makes this one of my new favourite songs. Of all time. "I'm expensive sushi, I'm a cute huge yacht." - YES.
